A Harrington Park tradition continues! For almost 30 years HP residents have enjoyed ice skating at George Street Park. Every year in mid December the fire department floods the large field. The rest is up to Mother Nature. Thanks to the low temperatures in the last weeks, the ice has been a big hit with adults and children over the winter holiday school break! These photographs were taken on 1/1/18 in the late afternoon, when it was 19’F out (without the wind chill). Several ice skaters and hockey players were out on the ice enjoying themselves and other people were looking on and cheering them on from the sides! The cold weather will continue, with no significant snow in the immediate future, so, if you plan to stop by, please remember there are no facilities or concessions at the park. Bundle up, perhaps pack a thermos of hot chocolate, and enjoy being outdoors on the ice in HP!
