Pondside Park – looks great! Thanks to the volunteers who helped in the cleanup 11/11/17!!

On Saturday November 11, 2017, members of The Harrington Park Green Team, The Harrington Park Environmental Commission, and the Northern Valley Old Tappan High School SOPE (Save Our Planet Environmental) Club coordinated and conducted a cleanup at Pond Side Park located off Blanch Ave in Harrington Park.

The park and surrounding area is utilized for recreation and includes a baseball/lacrosse/soccer field, a paved path with exercise stations around the pond, and a fenced children’s playground.  Over 30 volunteers cleaned up the surrounding woods from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

In addition to traditional garbage (much of which was recyclables), a few small kitchen appliances were found – including a can opener and a mixer (!), along with an old school desk and old car parts. It was estimated that over 50 pounds of garbage was collected and will be properly disposed. The groups plan to coordinate another cleanup in the spring.
