New trees!

Walk through town and you may spot some new trees on town property.  The HP Environmental Commission, with the help of the DPW, has planted two new Oak trees on the edge of the Columbus Street park and two new Dogwood trees behind the Adirondack benches at the upper field at Highland field.  The trees are from a small tree farm built 10/2014 as an Eagle Scout project by Jimmy Mohrwinkel.  tree-twoThe Environmental Commission provided funds for the purchase of alligator drip bags to provide continuous watering and  material to cover the tree trunks to protect them from the deer.

These plantings are part of our continuing effort to replace town trees lost due to storms or old age.
