Harrington Park celebrated on Town Day, Sept 12, 2015!!

On Sept 12th, Harrington Park held its annual Town Day celebration at Highland Field.townday14
Community organizations were invited to participate, which included the Harrington Park Green Team, Environmental Commission, the HPFD, the Community Church, and the Junior Women’s Club.  Local retailers had items for sale, including hand carved items from Sawdust and The Jewelry Sisters.  Local businesses also participated in demonstrations; here are photos of  ACE Tae Kwon Do students in action!townday12 townday13
Unfortunately Mother Nature didn’t fully cooperate and there was quite a bit of rain throughout the day, but the rain didn’t stop the fun! townday7
Town Day festivities included something for everyone! The attractions and activities included pony rides, a petting zoo, a rock climbing wall, many inflatable rides (including water slides!), a kiddie train, face painting, and balloon art.townday11 townday10townday6
Meatheads BBQ and their professional pit crew from Northvale (available for catering) ran the food hut and provided tasty food and beverage options such as pulled pork, burgers and even buffalo cauliflower for a meatless option! (all available for purchase)townday4
The HPGreen Team and the Environmental Commission continue to help promote local markets and farmer’s markets at Town Day. townday8 townday1 townday2We set up our “buy fresh, buy local” table and sold delicious fresh squeezed lemonade, home baked cookies, bread from Amato Bakery in Northvale, as well as apples from Stokes Farm in Old Tappan. Additionally, we handed out information about local farmer’s markets and their schedules.  We also had an Earth Machine™ home composting bin on display from the Bergen County Utilities Authority ( www.bcua.org) available to sell; and we spoke about composting with several residents.
Despite the weather many local residents came out to enjoy the afternoon’s festivities!
