The BCUA Mobile Paper Shredding Program visited HP on 4/25/15

shredding truck 1The Bergen County Utilities Authority provides wastewater treatment and solid waste management services for the residents of Bergen County. The BCUA has a Mobile Paper Shredding Program, which provides residents the opportunity to have confidential and sensitive personal materials shredded free of charge, either at a regional or a municipal shredding event. Harrington Park has had the shredding truck at our History Day event for the past three years. Thank you to Councilwoman Michelle Ryan who arranged for the truck to be at Borough Hall on 4/25/15, publicized the event, and spent the morning helping direct the many people who came with boxes and bags and carloads of documents to shred.shredding truck 2 Between 9am and 2pm, residents brought 7,250lbs of paper which was shredded as they watched. The totals were similar to the previous years’ collections: 7,600lbs in 2013 and 7,300lbs in 2012. If you missed the date and don’t want to wait until the truck is back in HP next April, use the link below to find information about three BCUA regional collection events this summer. The next one is on Saturday June 6th from 9am-2pm at the Campgaw Mountain Reservation in Mahwah – tires and electronics will also be collected that day. (and yes the shredded paper is recycled!)
