Earth Day- April 22, was first organized in 1970 “to promote ecology and respect for life on the planet as well as to encourage awareness of the growing problems of air, water and soil pollution”. “More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world”. http://www.earthday.org/
Join fellow Harrington Park residents on April 20th to do help clean up our watershed, in honor of Earth Day! Harrington Park is participating in the Bi-State Watershed Cleanup on April 20th. We will be cleaning debris from three areas in town, all part of our watershed. Stop by the borough hall parking lot anytime from 11am-2pm to be directed to an area. Please dress for weather and working conditions. The cleanup takes place rain or shine. Grabbers and bags will be provided (though the plastic bags in the treetops are well out of reach!). This can count for community service hours for students. To preregister or if you have any questions, please contact Councilwoman Michelle Ryan at 201-856-4671 or firstname.lastname@example.org. This multi-town watershed cleanup effort is supported by the Hackensack Riverkeeper and United Water.
See you on the 20th!
