let it snow…a belated “trick or treat” from Athena

The HP Environmental Commission meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 8pm and the EC did meet tonight (with a quorum). This is a photo of the entrance to Boro Hall at 9:30pm Nov 7, 2012.

(Remember the Halloween storm in 2011?) It turns out that this nor’easter has a name- “Athena” – according to the Weather Channel.

Many topics were covered at the meeting tonight, but the EC members especially wanted to note (>> thus this post) the hard work and dedication of Mark Kiernan and the the HP DPW staff. Anticipating Hurricane Sandy they focused on vacuuming leaves to keep the streets and drains clear; after the storm there were many downed trees on municipal property and in the streets to remove, they have been very busy chipping the piles of branches and vacuuming up the new leaf piles…and now, thanks to Athena, they were out plowing snow today!

Luckily the forecast is for a sunny weekend in the high 50’s!

(trick or treat)
