This summer beautiful enhancements were made to the school courtyard. These enhancements were achieved with HP Home and School Association funds, along with the generous donations and efforts of John Terranova, a Harrington Park School parent, and his company New Earth Landscaping, Inc. The courtyard garden beds were raised, plantings were installed, and mulch was added. Asphalt was removed front the entrance area and replaced with pavers; and the walkway was widened by 18″ with blue stone. The catch basin was raised and a new drain was added and tied into the existing drain which was also in need of repair. The trees and shrubs were pruned and a diseased dogwood was removed. Some sprinklers were also installed to supplement the rain barrels as needed. Grassy areas along the building were cleaned out and beds were prepared for student plantings. It is a beautiful start and we hope to “grow” the garden and further enhance the courtyard so it will be more of a focal point enjoyed by everyone at the school.
