“A big part of Hackensack Riverkeeper’s mission to protect, preserve and restore the Hackensack River watershed is to engage the people of our watershed to take responsibility for it. Throughout the year, we invite the community to participate in the many River Cleanups we host in various locations in the watershed.”
Join the Riverkeeper in cleaning up the northern end of the Oradell Reservoir this Saturday, Aug 25, from 10-2pm. Meet at Blanche Ave, where it crosses the reservoir between Norwood and Closter (the shoreline south to Harrington Park is part of the area that will be cleaned up). As per their website, “the Hackensack Riverkeeper will provide all the equipment you should need to participate, including canoes, PFDs, paddles, pick-up sticks, gloves, bags and nets. Individuals 16 or older may paddle a canoe (2 paddlers per canoe are required). Groups of 10 or less are welcome to participate. Please bring a reusable water bottle that you can refill, sun tan lotion and bug spray!” Preregistration is NOT required.
