The Borough of Harrington Park participated in a free mobile shredding day that was sponsored by the Bergen County Utilities Authority (BCUA) on Saturday, September 17th, 2011. This event washeld in the Harrington Park Borough Hall parking lot located at 85 Harriot Ave,Harrington Park, NJ 07640 from the hours of 9am to 1pm. It was publicized in local newspapers, the town newsletter and in an email blast to community residents.
As this event was sponsored by the BCUA, it was open to all residents of Bergen County who wanted to shred/recycle their personal documents. About 85 residents participated; Councilman Michelle Ryan estimates that 80 of them were from Harrington Park. Tonnage numbers are pending at present. Harrington Park last held a shredding day on October 16, 2010. Approximately 100 residents participated then, with the majority from Harrington Park and the rest from neighboring communities, and 3260 pounds of paper were collected and shredded.
