Your carbon footprint is a representation of the effect you have on the climate in terms of the total amount of greenhouse gases you produce (measured in units of carbon dioxide).
One of the actions for Sustainable Jersey certification is to calculate the municipalcarbon footprint; a more involved action is to calculate the community carbon footprint. Look at this site for information about Green NJ and an environmental tip of the day, and then follow the link to a carbon footprint calculator. The SafeClimate carbon footprint calculator allows you to determine carbon dioxide emissions from major sources: home energy consumption and transportation by car and plane. (You will need to have current utility bills available to complete this survey).
